Dorothy McFadden Pitcher, retired DISD School Nurse died April 5, 2015. She was born in Mt. Sylvan, June 24, 1919 to James P. and Mary Essie Miller McFadden. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 older siblings, stepdaughter, Kippy Pitcher Djubin, granddaughter, Kathy Djubin and Charles W. Pitcher, her husband of 51 years. She is survived by her daughter Donna L. Pitcher, stepdaughter Nancy Pitcher Crawford Sullivan; grandchildren Janit L. Crawford, Bradford Scott Crawford, Bonnie Crawford Short Henry, Margaret Ann Djubin Burns, William Djubin, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Pitcher was a 55 year member of White Rock Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women. She belonged to Jane Douglas Chapter of the DAR., the League of Women’s Voters, and the National Organization of Women. Mrs. Pitcher received her nursing degree from Jefferson Davis School of Nursing, Houston Texas, her B.S. and Master of Letters from the University of Houston. She served 3 ½ years in the Army Nurse Corp, Kodiak Alaska during WWII. She was a DISD School Nurse from 1956 to 1982 helping to develop its early evolution. Visitation will be at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, Thursday from 6 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be Friday April 10th at 10am, White Rock Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Mt. Sylvan Cemetery in Mt. Sylvan, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the White Rock Methodist Children's Ministry.
