Don Evans Winn was born on March 22, 1930 In Brazil, Indiana to the late Willis Epperson and Hope S Evans Winn. He passed away at the age of 87 on February 19, 2018. He was the youngest of three children but lost his older brother and sister to an automobile accident when he was eight years old. Don served in the military as an airplane mechanic at Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah. He married Lurline McLeskey on Christmas Day 1954 and remained happily married for fifty-four years until her passing in 2008. They lived in the Dallas area and operated Cliff Rentals on Hampton Road in Oak Cliff for many years. This small business allowed Don to employ some of his nephews and their friends during the summer and assured that he was a vital part of every family gathering for many years as he would happily provide all necessary party items. Through the years his passion for “tinkering” expanded to collections of model trains, cars, and enough tools to make any man jealous. He was a long-time member of the Wynnewood Hills and Ovilla Churches of Christ. He was always welcoming to strangers, ready to tell a corny joke and loved to eat at any time but especially at family activities. Because he had no children, he took on many - taking care of his in-laws until their passing and attending celebrations and events for his nieces and nephews. He is survived by three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews who will always fondly remember their favorite Uncle Don. There will be a family only remembrance service at Laurel Land Funeral Home on Thursday at noon.
