Don was born in Abilene, Texas on August 1, 1928 to Mabel and Albert McAlister. He began dating the love of his life, Barbara Fulwiler, in high school; they were married September 9, 1949. Don and Barbara moved to Dallas, Texas in 1969 where he worked as a general construction contractor until his retirement.
Don and his wife Barbara were active and dedicated members of Northway Christian Church in Dallas. He also served as a board member of Juliette Fowler Home for many years. Don was an avid fisherman.
Don is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother.
He leaves behind his much beloved wife of almost 69 years, Barbara; daughter Paula Roberts and husband Philip Roberts of Texas City; daughter Vicki Skaggs and husband John Skaggs of McAllen; adored grandchildren: granddaughter Amy Skaggs, grandson Taylor Roberts and wife Megan and grandsons David Skaggs, Austin Roberts, and William Roberts.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Northway Christian Church, followed by a Memorial Service celebrating Don’s life at 11:00 a.m.
