Dillon McNeel Carter was a friend to all. He demonstrated his love for his Mom, Dad, brothers, and friends through his acts of kindness, compassion, and devotion to them. His smile was genuine and spontaneous, and his laugh was contagious. Dillon was born on April 13, 2000, in Dallas, Texas and went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 19, 2018. Dillon deeply loved his family, friends, neighbors and their children, teachers, and his Old English Sheepdog, Mac. His older brother, Zach, named Dillon the day he was born. Throughout his life Dillon was respectful, polite, and the perfect Southern Gentleman. His manners were always impeccable and evident by his response of “yes sir/ma’am” or “no sir/ma’am,” and standing at the approach of a lady. Dillon had a strong faith and even kept his Bible in his truck. He was active in the youth group at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Among his favorite scriptures was Philippians 4:13. Dillon truly believed that he could do all things through Christ.
Dillon had a zest for life. He was kind, resourceful, pragmatic, assertive, competitive, and strong. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was always packed and ready to go to his family’s hunting lease. He never missed an opportunity to hunt or fish, and loved being with his brothers and friends in the outdoors. In addition to the lease, his favorite place to visit was Midland. He loved spending time with his west Texas family. Many memories were made in Midland and Dillon was in awe of the beautiful west Texas sunsets.
Many holiday memories occurred with family and friends. A favorite story about Christmas was when he was in the first grade. Dillon wrote a letter to Santa asking for a dog, mailed it from school, came home and told his parents there was nothing they could do about it. Santa obliged, and Dillon received his dog, Mac, Christmas morning.
Dillon loved to eat and among his favorite foods were rib-eye steaks and patty melts. Dillon could often be found dining at Chips on triple burgers or grilling steaks in his backyard.
Dillon graduated from Highland Park High School in 2018. Dillon was looking forward to attending Texas Tech University and wanted to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a commissioned officer after graduation.
Dillon is survived by his parents, Martha and Paul Carter, brothers; Nick, Zach, and his twin Paul. Grandmother; Jane McNeel Smith, his Uncle Pat and his wife Toni and his cousins, Blake and Neal Carter. His Aunt Elizabeth McNeel Sevcik and her husband, Ric, and his cousins, Andrew Sloan, Alexis and Robert Thompson, Ellie Sevcik, and Luke Sevcik.
