Danny was born in La Mesa Texas on October 17, 1950 to Jack Harmon Wilcox, Sr and Merle Irene Penn. At the age of 17, Danny enlisted in the US Marines where he served during the Vietnam War. After his service in Vietnam, Danny attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas where he received a Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Shortly thereafter, Danny taught at Southern Methodist University and went on to write a number of books.
Danny was married to Linda Anne Wright on October 17th 1992; they were married for 29 years before her passing in May of 2022. They attended Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic church in Lewisville Texas where they enjoyed the company of many friends.
Danny worked in many fields during his life, but he primarily taught Sociology at Southern Methodist University and University of North Texas over the course of his career. He enjoyed his wonderful dogs and following the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, and attended many games of both teams.
Danny is preceded in death by his wife Linda Anne Wilcox, parents Jack and Irene Wilcox, his brothers Robin Wilcox, Jack Harmon Wilcox Jr. and Tony Wilcox.
Danny is survived by his sister-in-law Wendy Wilcox, stepson Bill Nash (Karen), many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends throughout the country.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 15th at Calvary Hill Funeral Home at 3235 Lombardy Ln. in Dallas. Committal will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery at 12:00 noon.
