Daniel (Dan) Francisco Perez, 61, beloved father, husband, and friend passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. Dan was born on December 3, 1958, in Amarillo, Texas, to Mary Louise and Alex Perez. Dan was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Caprock High School in 1977. He graduated from Texas Tech with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1981 and from the University of Texas School of Law in 1987.
Dan was an intellectual property lawyer for more than 30 years. Throughout his career, Dan was a leading intellectual property attorney defending and prosecuting major intellectual property cases for Fortune 500 corporations. During his career, Dan was also an Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas School of Law and a member of the Federal Judicial Selection Committee established by Senators John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchinson.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Alex Perez. He is survived by his wife, Evanthia Perez, and their daughter, Valencia Perez. He is also survived by his children, Maya (Paul) Perez Gainey and Tony Perez; his mother, Mary Louise Perez; and his brothers, Alex Perez and Mark Perez. Dan was known as the life of the party, who lived vibrantly and fought passionately. No dream was too big for Dan Perez.
The Memorial Service of Mr. Perez will be lived streamed on The Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory facebook page on Wednesday July 8 starting at 12:00pm.
