Clark McBay was born March 8, 1928 to the parentage of Fay and Noah McBay, out of eleven children in Waxahachie, Texas. Having completed his formal education in Dallas at N. W. Harllee Elementary School from there he went to Lincoln High School where he participated in both football and track. He received a hundred percent full scholarship to attend Bishop College. Upon his graduation from Bishop College in Marshall, Texas, Clark accepted a teaching position here in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. McBay later resigned his position in Dallas as a teacher and moved his family to Cleveland, Ohio, where he entered hotel management. Here he worked for the Late Mr. Alonzo Wright, Black Millionaire and Owner of the Carnegie and Majestic Hotels. Upon the request of his wife, Pearl Sims McBay and family Mr. McBay returned to Texas where he continued his broad experiences in Private Industry focused on management in food and beverage. It was during his tenure as Maître D’ at Glen Lakes Country Club where he landed the position as the first black to become Territorial Representative for Penland Distributors (Special Markets) a Schenley Distillery subsidiary.
Mr. McBay was also employed as a Sales Representative for Sears and Roebuck when his wife, Pearl passed away, which prompted his return to the teaching profession. Clark McBay held a Bachelor of Science degree from Bishop College, a Hotel and Restaurant Certificate, a Certificate of Merit in the Art of ViniCultural (Wine). He graduated from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a member of Pylan Salesmanship Club National Association of Market Developing and T.S.T.A. Mr. McBay received his Masters Degree in Education.
Mr. Clark McBay was a retired science teacher in the Wilmer Hutchins Independent School District; he had a life of broad experiences. Not only was Mr. McBay a science teacher, he was the Principle of the Alternative at Risk Program at Wilmer Hutchins I.S.D.
On Tuesday, January 01, 2019 Clark McBay “Big Daddy” entered into his eternal home of Glory. He was welcomed by his wife, Pearl Sims McBay; parents; all ten siblings and aunt, Lena Wilson.
Clark McBay, known lovingly by his family as “Big Daddy” leaves to forever cherish his Life and his Legacy, four children, Paula Trimble Polk (Sammy), Derrick McBay ( Cynthia), Charma McBay and Marga McBay Morgan; seven grandchildren, Angelyn Trimble, Brent McBay, Derrick McBay, Jr., Dera McBay, Le’Jon Bowens, Avonti B. Flood and Jamarri K. Sauls; fourteen great-grandchildren, Karmyn Perkins, Kiara McBay, Tiara McBay, Darius Brigham, Dasia Davis, Tavian Bowens, Aaliah Cooper, Garreon Johnson, D’Mereon Johnson, Syntrell Greer, Cynthia Greer, Sariah McBay, Jeziah McBay and Angelica McBay; one great great grandson, Ashton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
