Clara was born on October 9, 1932, in Cooper, Texas. She was the youngest child of Joseph and Cleonice Hendley. She grew up on a cotton farm until, at the age of thirteen, her family moved to Dallas. She went on to marry the boy next door, Don O’Neal and they were happily married for 60 years. They had a son, Don Ray, and two grandchildren, Danielle and Daryl. Also, four great-grandsons, Colin, Devin, Cadin and
Harrison. She was a beloved aunt to two nieces and a nephew and their children.
Clara was godmother to Billie Moziek and her family, husband Marc, daughter Hollie, grandchildren Adriana, Leo, Justin, Dominic and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, sister Joyce, brother Hoyle, niece Suzanne, and nephew Jeff.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church and was a volunteer at Methodist Hospital for over 33 years. This was the perfect job for her as she was so friendly and caring and loved meeting new people. She and Don believed that laughter was the best medicine, and they lived by that. They loved to laugh together, and it was always contagious, bringing joy to all.
Clara was loved by all who knew her, and she will be remembered in the hearts of everyone she touched in the ninety years of her incredible journey through life.
