Charlie J. Cook, age 92, passed away on December 7, 2023 in Rockwall, Texas. He was born on August 3, 1931 in Dallas, Texas to Will and Alvina Cook. Charlie was raised in Riley, Texas and graduated from Riley High School in 1944.
He married Barbara Jeanette in 1952 and the couple had 4 children. He was a supervisor at Johnson Controls where he worked for more than 40 years.
In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed going to church at Friendship Baptist Church in Mesquite, where he was a Deacon. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed watching all his grandkids play sports.
His family and friends will always remember him as a person who made people laugh and could entertain everyone with great and amusing stories. There was no one he did not know. It seems like anyone he saw knew of him one way or another.
He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jeanette Cook; his brothers Shorty Cook, Harold Cook, Jimmy Cook, and John Henry – better known as Doc; his sisters, Dollie Keefer and Mytle Penn.
He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy J. Hodkinson, Pat A. Nix, and Shirley J. Coulter; four kids and their spouses: Wanda and David Knoerr, Charlie and Darla Cook, Moose and Daisy Cook, and Sabrina and Doug Beard. He has 13 grandkids and 23 great-grandkids. He also had many friends.
A visitation for Charlie will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, 820 Pioneer Rd, Mesquite, TX 75149. A committal service will occur Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A reception will occur Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church, 820 Pioneer Rd, Mesquite, TX 75149.
