Charles Edward Lynch

Charles Edward Lynch was born on July 8, 1941 to the parentage of Harry Lynch Sr and Catherine E. Johnson in Tarentum, Pennsylvania.

Charles was an active child who loved to go fishing, hunting and playing games with the other boys in the neighborhood. He also loved spending time with his father, in which they would go most everywhere together. Seeing his fathers interactions with people taught Charles many things that would be useful in his future.

Charles was walking encyclopedia, ask him anything and more than likely know the answer. Everyone assumed that he had earned at least a bachelor's degree but were surprised to learn that he dropped out of school after the 8th grade to start working to help support his family.

Charles saw a beautiful young lady and a friend walking across the school yard one day and exclaimed to his friend “ I’m going to get that girl to marry me one day” Charles inquired about the girl and learned her phone number, in which he called and spoke with her mother who said “ Charles, Joyce is only 13 now and can not start dating anyone until she turns 16, so you can call her, but no dates until then. Charles called often and waited for Joyce to turn 16 to officially start courting her. After dating for 3 years Charles married Joyce L Sharp on October 19, 1963. Through the good and the bad, the sickness and health, they stayed happily married for 56 years…….Charles would often say that 56 years just wasn’t enough time with her……he wanted more, and knowing the hope and faith they both had in Jehovah’s promise, they would have a lifetime of happiness together in the new system of thing under Jesus’ rule.

Charles and Joyce live a very comfortable life together in Alliance, Ohio where they chose to raise their children. Both worked for American Steel Foundries in the town in which Charles quickly worked his way up from laborer to head inspector. Charles was the first and only person to earn the award of Employee of the Year for saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars with his keen eye of detecting imperfection in the steel casting. Charles retired from the factory after working 33 years, 5 months and 5 days exactly.

Charles was preceded in death by this loving wife Joyce Loraine, both his parents Harry and Catherine a grandson Tevin Swift and a niece Sherrill Green. Charles has left to cherish his memory three loving and devoted daughters – Gina R. Lynch-Aremu (Paul) Tara L. Smith (Steven) and Candy L. Miller (Rone) – Two surrogate children – Charles K. Miller (Coretta) and Annette M. Jenkins (Timothy)- Four grandchildren – Marcus D. Hancock (Nicole), Brittany J. Lynch, Tyrone D. Miller (TJ) and Tiara L. Swift. One adopted grandchild – Krisjin Murray. Five great grandchildren – Alexandria Hancock, Jaydean Hancock, Elijah K. Lynch, Cayden T. Swift and Jaylen D. Cooksey. Two sisters Irma Melvin, Sherry Wilson (Jimmy) one brother Harry Lynch Jr. and one nephew Jason Lynch (Nish).

There are also a host of people who considered Charles their Dad, grandfather, mentor and role model, Kenneth Merrell, Jamal Hancock, Kayode Aremu, Ololade Aremu, Abolade Aremu, Olamide Aremu, Marco Amerson , Jocelyn Jaro and Gracie Kivel, and numerous other family and friends.

A memorial for Charles E. Lynch will be held on Saturday, Feb 10, 2024.
