Charles Wesley Beck II was born in Ft. Worth on June 26, 1933 and he passed away on December 19, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Beck; daughter Julia Kenner and her husband, Don; step-daughter Peggy Ann Thomas and her husband Michael; granddaughters Catherine, Isabella, and Crista. He is also survived by his "Best Bud" and dearest friend, Tom Morey. Charles and Tom spent many happy hours and hard work restoring classic cars, telling war stories, talking about flying and their Navy experiences, also discussing politics and life.
Charles graduated from U.T. Austin in 1954 with a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering and was commissioned as a Navy Lieutenant. He completed four years of active duty at sea and at NACS and NASA as a Research Engineer 1957-1958. In 1960 he returned to U.T. Austin where he graduated with a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
In 1975 he became the founding President of INternational Avionics, a position he held until his death. The company is a supplier of annunciator systems and control electronics to the general aviation industry, both original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket completion centers. Charles was dedicated to the design and manufacture of products that improved the safety and operation of aircraft.
He received a J.D. from Baylor University School of Law in 1986. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas, and he was a Registered Professional Engineer.
The family extends thanks and recognition to dear friends Sandra and Kenneth for their support during Charles's final years.
Charles final act of generosity was participating in the Willed Body Program of U.T. Southwestern Medical School. Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Richardson Mission Program, 1001 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, TX 75080. A memorial service to honor his life and legacy will be held Friday, September 27, 2013, at 1:30pm at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery. The United States Navy will accord military honors.
