Carolyn Watford McIntyre of Plano, TX, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 25, 2010. She was born on August 8, 1914 in Orangeburg, SC to Samuel and Lizzie Watford. On June 9, 1932, she married James Talmadge McIntyre who preceded her in death in 1984. They made their home in Vidalia, Georgia. She worked in sales much of her adult life.
In 1991 Carolyn moved to Plano, TX to be near her daughter. She quickly made a home for herself and became an active member of the community as a volunteer for Medical Center of Plano and as a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. In 1996 she was nominated for the “Plano’s Treasure” Award as a result of her volunteerism. Her desire to give to others even continued when she moved to assisted living. Each year she would solicit food and funds from her fellow residents for the Plano Food Pantry. Carolyn also enjoyed her book club and her bridge group. She continued to play bridge until her 95th year.
Carolyn took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grand children. She is survived by son James McIntyre and wife Maureen of Clifton, VA and by her daughter Marilyn Amen and husband Gerald of Plano, TX. Grandchildren are Kathleen McGill and husband Michael of Bethesda, MD; Cynthia Giorgio and husband Hugh of Davidsonville, MD; Karen Welch and husband Michael of Lovettsville, VA; Christopher Amen and wife Carmen of Las Vegas, NV; and Timothy Amen and wife Meara of Phoenix, AZ. Great- grandchildren are Kelsey and Emily Giorgio; Isabelle Welch; Victoria, Carson, and Joseph Amen; and Elina and Bryson Amen. She will be greatly missed by her family.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church, 4300 West Park Blvd., Plano, TX 75093
