Carmen Lucy Pereira de Hoagland, 88, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 from natural causes. Carmen was born on May 5th, 1933 to Alfredo and Lucy Pereira in Tarija, Bolivia. After attending college, she went on to work performing laboratory studies. In 1960, she met William (Bill) N. Hoagland, and they wed in October 1960, going on to have four children, David, William (Billy), James (Jimmy), and Richard (Ricky) Hoagland. Along with Bill’s two children from a prior marriage, Jennie Vickers and Michael (Mike) Hoagland. Carmen was an excellent daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who lived for her family. Having traveled all over the world with her family, she made numerous friends.
Carmen loved hosting gatherings wherever she was and enjoyed creating lifelong memories with her loved ones. Her home was always full of warmth and kindness. She could usually be found cooking a simple dinner for her family or preparing an exquisite feast for a large group. Amongst her many talents, she was exceptional at decorating and sharing her home for the holidays and special occasions.
Carmen was preceded in death by, Alfredo Pereira (Father), Lucy Arellano (Mother), Alfredo (Freddy) Pereira (Brother), Elba Arellano de Laredo (Sister), and William (Bill) Hoagland (Husband). She is survived by her children, Jennie Vickers, Michael and his wife Tuk, David and his wife Nesa, William, James and his wife Karen, and Richard and his wife Emily. In addition to her children, she is also survived by her grandchildren; Christy, Michelle, Jenny, Tim, Taylor, TJ, Chandler, Thomas (and his mother Debbie), Tony, Landon, and their families. Dearest Mommy, we will forever cherish your memory and continue to move forward knowing that someday we will all be together again.
While flowers are welcome, the family prefers donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her name. A visitation for Carmen will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. The Funeral Mass will occur Friday, January 14, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at All Saints Catholic Church, 5231 Meadowcreek Dr, Dallas, TX 75248. Committal to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
