With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carmelita T. Calderilla, who left this world on November 14, 2024 at the age of 73. Carmen was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend and a beloved member of her community.
Born on October 24, 1951, Carmelita grew up in Edcouch, Texas and lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends. She was known for her good heart, warm smile, being a great listener, and especially her beautiful hair.
She touched the lives of everyone she met.
Carmelita's passion was working with puzzles, cleaning her home, working on her garden, and spending time with her friends. She especially loved spending time with her sister, Rosie, back home.
Carmelita is survived by her loving husband, Armando Calderilla Sr.; her 2 sons, Fransico Torres Jr. and Armando (Marlene) Jr.; her daughter Coralynn Torres; her 3 grandchildren, Anthony Torres, Evelyn Torres, and Matthew Armando Calderilla; her 5 great grandchildren; her 5 brothers, Felix (Irma) Tanguma, Victor (Getty) Tanguma, Leandro (Irenia) Tanguma, Mauricio (Dalia) Tanguma, and Oscar Tanguma; and her sister, Rosie Schmalzried.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Feliz and Natividad Tanguma, and her sister Julia T. Calderilla.
A visitation for Carmelita will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A rosary will occur Monday, November 18, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228.
Though she may no longer be with us in person, Carmelita's light will forever shine in our hearts.
