Born to Carl and Eleanor Pepperman in Naugatuck, Connecticut on January 18, 1935, she grew up with her brother, Arthur Pepperman (deceased). She enjoyed many childhood summers at Camp Penko in Maine. Carla attended Skidmore College and had a brush with fame when she performed on the Ed Sullivan Show (Toast of the Town) on May 1, 1955 as part of the college’s chorus. Carla went on to graduate from Skidmore in 1957 with a BSBA. She married Jim on June 22, 1957.
Carla is survived by her 5 children, Mark (Retha), John (Valerie), Nancy (Mark Jagielski), JP (Laura) and Chris. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Lucas Kernan (Rachel), Tori Kernan, James Kernan, Colt Kernan, Kevin Jagielski, Jason Jagielski (Brittni) and Scott Jagielski (Haylee).
Carla spent many years serving All Saints Catholic Church in Richardson in various capacities. Her early days with Mgsr. Kamel were especially rewarding to her and she was proud to be a part of the All Saints Community from the start. Over the years, many parishioners and clergy came to know and love Carla.
She was an avid tennis player and loved playing the piano, guitar and bridge. She had a soft spot for animals and never seemed too tired of working on crossword puzzles or watching the gameshow network. She was a devoted Mavs and Rangers fan.
Carla’s life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Catholic Church 5231 Meadowcreek Drive, Dallas, Texas 75248 on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Most Rev. Michael G. Duca presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, www.vnatexas.org or the SPCA of Texas, www.spca.org.
