Brent Bob Barbee of Carrollton, TX passed away in his home on January 26th, 2015. He was born in Reydon, Oklahoma, but spent most of his childhood in Perryton, Texas. His parents were Wilma Helton Barbee and Wendall Rodgers Barbee. Although his older brother resided in Oklahoma for most of his adult life and Brent spent majority of his in Texas, he was very close to his older brother, Wendell Craig Barbee.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M University (formerly West Texas State University) in Canyon, TX. He worked as a Claims Adjuster for over 30 years. He moved up in his company fairly quickly to become the Senior Manager Claims Adjuster, and traveled quite a bit towards the end of his career to oversee cases. He also contributed and participated in several charitable groups throughout his life; especially those for animals, hunger, and children. Although he excelled in his career, his real passion was spending time with friends and family.
Brent married Jane Emery, the love of his life, in Amarillo, Texas on July 11, 1981. After beginning married life in Amarillo, Jane and Brent lived in several other locations in Texas including Wichita Falls, Waco, and Tyler. They have resided in Carrollton since 1994. They had two daughters in 1988 and 1991. He loved animals, especially dogs, and had many pets throughout his lifetime. He had many hobbies, including golf, watching old westerns, cooking shows, and reading Louis L'amour books. He had a passion for music, and traveling. He loved taking his family on different vacations once or twice a year all over the United States. He loved making home movies, and often went to his daughters' activities to video tape them. A beloved and devoted father, friend, husband, and brother, he took joy in the little things in life and always found the silver lining in most situations. He will truly be missed.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine Barbee and Courtney Barbee; nephew, Brian Barbee; brother-in-law, Paul Emery; god-daughter, Lexi Burns and her father, Brent's life-long best friend, Kim Sledge. Mike and Kathy McFall, and his numerous cousins are also to be acknowledged.
Services will be held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX. Visitation will be Friday evening, January 30 from 5 pm to 9 pm. The funeral will be Saturday morning, January 31 at 10:30 am. There will be a reception after the service where a light lunch will be provided. The burial will take place at Hilltop Cemetery in Carrollton around 1 pm where he will be layed to rest next to his wife.
