Betty Mashburn Goodwin, a resident of Dallas, Texas, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on January 4, 1926, to Eugene and Essie Harrell Mashburn. She attended Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Betty and her husband, Dr. Joel F. Goodwin, Sr. moved to Dallas and joined the First Baptist Church of Dallas in 1949. Her joys in life were church, family and friends. She was a devoted Christian all her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joel Franklin Goodwin, Sr., and son, Dr. Joel F. (Frank) Goodwin, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Goodwin, son John Goodwin and wife Julie of Dallas, son Gene Goodwin and wife Laura of Coppell, and six grandchildren, Alicia, Natalie, Amanda, Drew and Michael Goodwin and Allison Goodwin Drake.
The funeral service is Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest. The internment service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Restland Cemetery. Pastors Alan Lynch and John Cullen will officiate.
