She was born October 30, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Innocent and Adeline Nathe. She attended Xavier High School in St. Louis and then became an active member in the All American Girls Baseball League. She married Harold Eugene Meier on September 29, 1951, and maintained an active lifestyle as the mother of three daughters. The family moved from St. Louis to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1958 and then to Dallas in 1965. Barbara was always an avid sports enthusiast and played and coached basketball, tennis (in a league with Las Colinas Country Club),and golf (also with Las Colinas). She was a member of the Christ the King Altar Society and a long-time member of the Dallas Arboretum Women’s Club.
Barbara is survived by Harold, her loving husband of 70 years, her three daughters, Linda (Frank) Svrcek, Dianne (Art) Sanchez,and Karen (Steve) Eubanks; her four grandchildren, Matthew (Annie) Svrcek, Justin (Zosia) Svrcek, Kellie Sanchez,and Erin Sanchez; and her great-grandson, Alexander Svrcek. She was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Anya Svrcek.
Memorial Mass will be held Monday, March 28, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Rd., Dallas, at 1:00 p.m.
