Alice Faye Swanson was born on January 23, 1942 to the late PR Swanson and Zeffa Mae Swanson. She was the oldest of 7 children and grew up in (Corinth) Bullard, Texas before moving to Tyler, Texas to the St. Louis community. She attended Flint Church of God in Christ. She also attended school at Emmett J. Scott High School in Smith County.
At 18, she gave birth to her only daughter, Maxine Swanson. Shortly after, she relocated to Ft. Worth, Texas for a short span. Alice worked as a waitress at Golden Eagle Restaurant. She then moved to Dallas where she met her husband, Noah Lee Davis aka “BuddyRose” in 1968. She later became a member of Grace Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Dallas, Texas. She was employed by Texas Instruments in 1970 as a semi-conductor. She became a widow in 1995. She retired from TI after over 30 years of service in 2003.
Alice loved her family and there is nothing she wouldn’t do for any of them. She also loved her church and her spirituals. Alice never met a stranger and made a friend everywhere she went. Some of the things she loved most was her roses, her yard, a good ice cold Coca Cola, some good fried catfish and standing over the sink picking those greens. Alice had one of the most beautiful yards in the neighborhood. Her favorite pass time and peaceful moments was sitting in her garage watering the yard and picking a good rug. She loved a good Cowboys game. She started taking dialysis 13 years ago. She was a very courageous woman with a strong will and never let anything get her down. She called going to dialysis going to work.
She was preceded in death by her parents PR Swanson and Zeffa Mae Swanson; brothers Paul Swanson and Henry Swanson and sisters Mary Nell Swanson, Delois Overshawn and Joyce Evelyn Swanson.
Unfortunately, her health started to take a decline about a year ago causing her to have to leave the home that she loved so much to move with her daughter, who thoughtfully cared for her. Alice Faye Davis transitioned from this life to glory on July 10, 2024. Left to cherish her memory are: one and only daughter, Maxine Swanson McNealy (Erwin); one brother, David Lee Swanson(Jeneva); three grandchildren, Nicole Arrington, Tiffany Bridges and Tabitha Atkins; six great grandchildren, Mia Coleman, Teja Cotton, Tamyia Franklin, Taliyah Spriggs, Cambri Greer and Tiara Greer; one great great grandchild, Malani Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
