Abner Elwyn (Mac) McCaskey Jr., age 88, passed away on January 19, 2023, in McKinney, Texas. He was born on March 24, 1934, in Mobile, Alabama to Abner Elwyn McCaskey Sr. and Ora Neal McCaskey. Mac was raised in Mobile, Alabama, and graduated from Murphy High School in 1951. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1960.
Mac served in the Navy from 1952-1956, enlisting during the Korean War. He was an Avionics Technician, AE First Class. He went to Boot Camp in San Diego, California, and then went to Avionics School in Norman, Oklahoma. He was sent to Electronics School in Millington, Tennessee, and from there to Jacksonville, Florida. He was assigned to a P2V-7 Squadron for three years as the Radar Operator and was stationed in Thule, Greenland for five months chasing enemy submarines. His crew also flew many flights to Europe as well as Reykjavík, Iceland, and French Morocco. After leaving the Navy, Mac started his career as an Electrical Engineer.
Mac worked at Raytheon (E Systems) for 38 years, finishing as the Vice President of Marketing at the Greenville, Texas division. Mac traveled the world, and he loved his job!
Mac loved football! He was a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan and was a season ticket holder for the Dallas Cowboys when they were at the Cotton Bowl and Texas Stadium. He coached his kids' little league football, baseball, and basketball teams!
Mac is survived by his wife Kalah McCaskey of 32 years. Children and Grandchildren; Sanford Lance and Patty McCaskey, Dr. Meghan Kelley McCaskey, Lance Bryant McCaskey, Russell Bryant and Deborah McCaskey, Morgan Ashley (McCaskey) and Caleb Davis, Connor Bryant McCaskey, Dr. Brian and Rebecca Schaulin, Brice David Schaulin, Preston Chase Schaulin, Michael and Karen Belmont, Vicki McCaskey and family.
