Described by her children as a good woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and cook… Mary Belle Thomas Simms age, 100, went to be reunited with her family and Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Carolina Care Center, Cherryville, North Carolina. Everybody that knew her loved her.
She is the daughter of the late J.A. Thomas and Lula Lee Thomas. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Vilbert Simms who passed away in 1993.
Those left behind to cherish Mary’s memories are her daughter and son in law: Faye and James Brooks; two sons and daughters in law: Wade and Betty Simms, Reid and Deanna Simms all of Dallas, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A celebration of life ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Carothers Funeral Home Chapel 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina with Reverend Barron Lee delivering words of comfort to Mary’s family and friends. Active pallbearers are T. Scott Simms, Warren Simms, Byron Brooks, David Lineberger, Taylor Dyer, Richard Dyer and Nicholaus Brooks.
Graveside and committal will follow in the Garden of the Apostle Mark II at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM ~ 1:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Dallas Baptist Church “Live Embers” 402 West Trade Street, Dallas, North Carolina 28034.
