John Shattuck, of Dallas, North Carolina, born and raised in Anderson County, Tennessee, and a 1966 graduate of Clinton High School, died on June 18, 2024, of natural causes at the age of 76. He was the son of N.M. (Jack) Shattuck and Margaret (Peg) Shattuck. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Carolyn.
He had two children, Donny Shattuck (wife Kelly) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Angela Cales (husband Eddie) of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; two granddaughters, Dylan and Marley; and a grandson, Lex.
His siblings are Tom Shattuck of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Jerry Shattuck of Clinton, Tennessee, Sabra Appleby of Caryville, Tennessee, and Penny Narayan of San Rafael, California.
John retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of honorable service in the Medical Corps.
He worked for several years as a hospice nurse.
Later, John and Carol traveled the NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car nationwide tours for 10 years as the Harley Davidson vendors.
John was an animal lover and a friend to all he met. He would stop on the street and give money to a stranger who appeared in dire straits.
He will be missed and remembered as a good soul.
