Ann Rhyne passed away after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 92 years old. Family was her true joy and she devoted the majority of her life seeing that her family was cared for without regard to her own needs and desires.
Born in Lenoir, NC as the youngest of four siblings, Ann attended Lenoir-Rhyne College where she met her husband of 68 years. After living for a short time in Columbia, SC, they moved to Dallas, NC and put down roots that lasted for over 60 years. It was here that they raised their family together. As the primary care giver to her children, Ann was the consummate stay-at-home mom. While not appreciated as much in today’s world, this was of great importance to her.
When not taking care of the home, Ann was active in many aspects of her church. It was through her church that a strong circle of friends was developed. Ann participated in the many and varied activities and ministries of women’s groups and hospitality organizations. The relationships created here sustained her throughout her life. In addition, Ann was also active in the singing and hand bell choirs at Holy Communion. Her life really did revolve around family and church.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henkle Rhyne; by her two brothers, Marvin and Walter Jr., and her sister Louise.
Ann is survived by her two children, David Rhyne of Greenville, SC and Kimberly Dellinger of Fort Mill, SC; their spouses Kathryn and Ray; three grandchildren Brooks Dellinger, Julia Rhyne, and Madeleine Rhyne; and two great-grandchildren Greyson and Rowan.
