Mrs. Bertha Hickey

It is with a sad heart and an appreciation for a long and happy life, that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Mrs. Bertha Hickey (Valdron), at the Villa Renaissance, on Monday October 7, 2024.

Born on April 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William (Willie) Valdron and the late Alice Ward. On September 5, 1949, she married J. Alfred (Fred) Hickey (2004). Mom resided in Dalhousie her entire life, she enjoyed her family, her home, her life long friends and of course her many, many card games.

She is survived by her children; Judy Leger (Brian), Paula Parise ( the late Jean-Guy), Kevin (Dianne), Colin (Judy) and Karen Lipsett (John). She was Gramma to: Vanessa, Sophie, Jonathan,Eric, Dominique, Lionel,Crystal, Michelle and Lauren. And Great-Gramma to: Zachary, Samuel, Ella, Maxime, Boue, Remy, Ross, Olivia, Mason and Isabelle.

She is also survived by her two brothers, Billy and Weldon (Tippy), who was very special to her. Her sisters in law Rolande Valdron and Merilda Hickey. Many nephews and nieces. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Eileen Duguay and her brothers; Gerald, Ray and Norman.

A Funeral Mass for Bertha will be held at St. John Baptist Church in Dalhousie on Monday, October 21 at 11:00 am.
