Andrew "Drew" Kingston

Born in Dalhousie on October 21, 1937 he was the son of the late Michael Kingston and Juanita Kingston (Arseneault).

Drew was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 63 years Jacqueline (Cormier); daughters Linda Armstrong (Rob) and Anne Soles (Steve); grandchildren Nathan (Rachel), Ryan (Kiran), Andrew (Ashley) and Gregory (Nancy); great grandchildren Leo, Atticus and Finley; sisters Maureen Stein (William), Michelle Ryan (Terry); brother Chris (Alice) and several nieces and nephews. Drew was also predeceased by his son Paul.

Drew proudly worked his entire career at the paper mill in Dalhousie and retired in 1992, at which point he and Jackie embarked on the good life of spending their summers on the beach in Cap-Pele or Shediac and spoiling their grandsons.

Drew enjoyed nothing more than making people laugh and making them feel welcome in his home. He had an endless supply of jokes and stories that he was only too happy to tell.

Drew will always be remembered as the first one to agree to a game of cards (he often declared himself the north shore cribbage champion), a round of golf or discussing his beloved Montreal Canadiens. And if any of those things happened to be accompanied by a cold beverage, then so much the better.

Also an avid volunteer, Drew was the Chairperson of numerous Library Boards at both the local and provincial level, a volunteer firefighter during his younger years, a Board member of Les Aventuriers cross country ski club, a driver for Meals on Wheels and an active member of the Dalhousie Golden Age Club.

A funeral mass will be held at St. John Bosco Church in Dalhousie on Tuesday February 14, 2023 at 11:00 am.

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.

Donations in Drew’s memory can be made to the Dalhousie Centennial Library.

Arrangements are under the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Dalhousie.
