Ithalean Carter was born in Ruston, Louisiana to Gus and Annie Adams (Harris). She was received by the Lord on October 24th, 2020. She was the last surviving of her generation. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Trudie Geneva Howard, Heddie Rojean Johnson, Lillie Rene White, Gussie Mae Mack, and Lueveder Richard, her brothers Eli Adams, Adell Adams, and PJ Adams, her daughter Ethel Lois Rogers, and her sons Raymond Jewel Roberson and James Allen Roberson. She leaves behind to celebrate her life, her daughters, Mabel Herrera and Jewel Lewis, 5 generations of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. Ithalean grew up in a large, Christian family. Her family enjoyed music and singing. She and her sisters formed a singing group fittingly called “The Adams Sisters”. Throughout her life, she worked in hospitality and catering services. She was an entrepreneur and successfully ran several businesses. She also worked as a community organizer for US Representative Maxine Waters. She instilled in her children the importance of pristine dignity, character, and integrity. She lived a fulfilled life surrounded by family and serving God. As an intercessor and prayer warrior, she and her daughter Mabel would spend hours praying together for family and loved ones. She served as Mother of New St John Missionary Baptist Church for many years. When asked what her happiest memory was in all her years, her response was, “Being in the family, a large family. I enjoyed the family”. Ithalean was passionate about her family’s salvation. She was respected and loved greatly. We celebrate this dignified lady. 100 years of life filled with love!
