Patricia Ann Turley

Patricia Turley, 90, of Culpeper, VA passed away March 5, 2023. She was born April 30, 1932 in Washington, DC to Margie and Brad Chappelle. Mrs. Turley was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and she also was a keen and witty friend to many. She drove a school bus in Fairfax County when her children were young and she was a loving mother to “all her kids” who rode the bus. Pat enjoyed needlecraft and became an avid and skilled quilter. She treasured her time working in The Quilt Patch in Fairfax where she taught, designed quilts and became published in a national quilt magazine. She was a long time and founding member of the statewide Virginia Consortium of Quilters, the Virginia Quilt Museum, Culpeper Quilting Guild, and of the Madison County Quilters Guild. Many quilters across the state value the skills and lessons she patiently imparted to them. Surviving Mrs. Turley are her 3 children, William Hubert Turley and his wife Colleen, Carol Turley-Shaner and her husband Steve, James Bradford Turley and his wife Dawn; her grandchildren Elizabeth Rebecca Ward, Rachel Eden Downing, Christine Marie Shaner, Jay and Sunshine and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Turley was one of two children and lost her younger sister, Bobbie several years ago. She was also preceded in death by her husband Hubert Turley in 2021 after 69 years of marriage. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA Monday, March 13, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment in the Culpeper National Cemetery, New Grounds, Chandler Street at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Won Lee will officiate. The family will receive friends from noon until service time.
