Julian Franklin Skinner, Jr., age 87 of Cullman, passed this life on October 31, 2024. Frank (Frankie) was the son of the late Julian Franklin and Dorothy Tucker Skinner.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jeanenne Skinner, and his daughters Susan (David) Pyles, Jennifer (Eddy) Sparkman, and son Stephen (Julie) Skinner; grandchildren Kendall Adkison, Tucker Adkison, Troy Adkison, Emalyn Blackwell, Alana Daniel, Kara (Sean) Redinger, Lauren Skinner, Ryan Skinner, Lindsey Skinner, Jacob (Phillippi) Pyles, Ethan Pyles, and Karly (Zach) Rayburn; great grandchildren Rosie and Benjamin Redinger; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His parents, sister Vicki Skinner Reid and brother Randy Skinner preceded him in death.
He was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and served as elder, deacon, teacher and Bible school director. His education included West Point High School, St. Bernard Jr. College, Samford University (Howard College), Auburn University School of Pharmacy, and attended Cumberland School of Law. He was awarded the highest award presented in pharmacy, the “Bowl of Hygeia Award”, in Philadelphia, and received an honorary doctorate degree in Pharmacy. He was a licensed pharmacist for over 60 years.
Frank served in the Alabama Air National Guard 117th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron and was stationed in Druex, France during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. The Lord blessed him in ownerships and partnerships of several pharmacies and various real estate holdings.
Some memberships have included Alabama Pharmacy Association district director, Alabama Pharmacy Cooperative president and director, American Pharmacy Association, Cullman County Pharmacy Association president, National Association of Retail Druggist, Pharmacy Compounding Centers of America, North Alabama Mental Health Board, Phi Delta Chi Fraternity, Cullman Chamber of Commerce, Cullman County Development Committee, Life member of Auburn Alumni Association, Cullman County Auburn Club president, PTA president, Cullman High School Tip-Off Club organizer and president, Kiwanis Club and Jaycees director, Hospice of Cullman Board, Freed-Hardeman College and International Bible College advisory boards, and Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame board and inductee.
Visitation will be Monday, November 4, 2024, 11:00-1:00pm with services at 1:00pm at the Cullman Church of Christ. The burial will be at Cullman Public Cemetery.
