James Robert Harris

James “Rob” Harris, was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on April, 17th 1953 to Emma Sue and James “Bud” Harris. After graduating from B.B. Comer High School, Rob attended Jacksonville State University where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. Rob and his bride, Seconda (Cook) were married for 32 years, sharing two children together, Khala Karroll and James “Korey”. Rob was the Band Director for Carbon Hill High School and Hibbett Elementary for 15 years. For over 30 years, Rob served faithfully as the Minister of Music in multiple churches throughout North Alabama while also working full-time at Gadsden Music Company. Rob loved to play the piano and sing, travel, hike, camp and kayak, he was a true outdoorsman. Rob’s fondest adventure with his daughter was white water rafting down the Arkansas River. His greatest adventures with his son included Jackson Hole, Utah, New Mexico and Alaska.

Above all things, Rob loved his family and was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father and “Pop” to his seven grandchildren. Rob is preceded in death by his father, James. Rob is survived by his mother, Emma Sue; his best friend and former wife, Seconda and their two children, Khala (Bryan) and Korey (bride Kate); his brothers, Randy and Ray Harris; sister, Brenda Grubb, and his seven grandchildren, Noah, Gracie, Brock, Kaleb, James, Madeleine, and Lincoln.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4th from 1:00-3:00 pm followed by Celebration of Life Service from 3:00-4:00 pm at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, AL. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at mossservicefh.com for the Harris family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Team Gleason Foundation or to the ALS Association of Alabama. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the support, care and compassion received from Gentiva Hospice, Family Private Care of Alabama most especially Katrina and Ginger, ALS Association Care Service Coordinator, Alysia, Team Gleason and the friends and caretakers met at Body Science of Miami.
