His three siblings and his nieces miss him greatly. He was a brilliant man, a star at Auburn University where he majored in sociology, after beginning in oceanography in 1968. Richard did very well in college, graduating with honors in 1973.
He then made a very high score on a state exam and earned an important position working for the Alabama state government for his professional career. He was married and lived in several cities in Alabama.
In his spare time, Richard was a great writer. His family hopes to have some of his stories published one day.
After retiring, Richard lived with his mother, Mildred Rowe Sanders, in Cullman. He took very good care of her and she lived to be ninety-one years old. Richard’s siblings, Elizabeth (husband Richard Bensel), brother Joseph, and sister Joyce; nieces, Sarah (husband Andrew Huntington), Jessica, (husband Jonathan Wegner); and Zoe (husband Chad); nephew Seth Bensel; great nieces Elizabeth and Victoria Huntington; and cousins Leigh Sanderson and Rachel Mountz visited with him and his mother often and are terribly sorry to lose him. They will never forget him.
