Charlie was born in Cullman, to Thomas and Leavie Patterson Waldrop. After high school, Mr. Waldrop served his country in the United States Army. When he returned to Cullman, Charlie’s name became synonymous with Waldrop Appliance, which he founded and owned from 1960 until 1997. Charlie’s “retirement” focused on working his cattle on the farm, he bought in 1971. The community that he loved knew they could always find him on his John Deere tractor working on his beloved farm. Mr. Waldrop was a member of Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his nine brothers and sisters.
Mr. Waldrop is survived by his wife, Frances Fine Waldrop; sons: Michael Waldrop (Robin) and Dr. Gregory Waldrop (Mary Jane). He will always be “Granddaddy” to his grandchildren: Dr. Jacob Waldrop (Dr. Katie Waldrop); Ella Waldrop, and Sarah Waldrop. Nieces, nephews, his customers, and the community will always remember him as Uncle Charlie.
