Nora Mae Winn, age 94, of Hebron, Illinois passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024. She was born on January 9, 1930 to Quigley & Fannie (Cooper) Fletcher. Growing up, she lived with her family all over the country, from South Dakota and Iowa to New York, following her father's engineering work. On December 20, 1950, she married Donald Winn in Des Plaines, Illinois. Over the coming years, they welcomed their children Cindy, Nancy & Michael, raising their family in Rolling Meadows. Nora and Don were very supportive of each other, standing by each other throughout their lives. They were very active in their community of Rolling Meadows & church, Community Church of Rolling Meadows. They moved to Hebron for a quieter, more relaxed life and joined United Methodist Church. They loved to camp and fish with their trailer, travelling to Wisconsin and Canada on many occasions. They enjoyed 65 beautiful years together until Don's passing in 2011.
Nora was an extraordinary homemaker and mother, making sure that everyone who entered her door felt at home. If you knew Nora, she considered you family, and treated you like family. She was a loving, caring mother, sharing her sense of humor with her children at every opportunity. She was known for making simple, but incredibly delicious food. Nora loved to garden, spending much of her time caring for her flowers and (sometimes) her vegetable garden. She was devoted to her family. Nora loved her dogs almost as much as she loved her children. Her family will miss everything about her.
Nora will be deeply missed by her children, Cindy Kowall & Michael Winn; her brother Donald Fletcher; her grandchildren Ashley, Alex, & Amanda; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Winn; her daughter Nancy Sarra; her parents, Quigley & Fannie Fletcher; her siblings, Quigley Jr., Suzanne, & Tom.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3 to 7pm on Friday, November 22 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
Memorials may be made in Nora's name to the United Methodist Church in Hebron.
