With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved child, Brenden Scott Roewer of Wonder Lake, Illinois. He was taken from us far too soon on Friday, October 25th, 2024 at the tender age of 17. He brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with his kind heart, charming smile, beautiful unique soul, and boundless curiosity.
Brenden was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Anna Urbanek of Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Brenden is survived by his parents, Anna Cummuta and step-father Michael Cummuta of Wonder Lake, Illinois, and father, Randy Roewer of Crystal Lake, Illinois; two brothers, Mason and Aiden Cummuta; sister Haylee Cummuta; grandparents, Christine Mercer of Woodstock, Illinois, Ron Mercer of Arkansas, Rochelle Roewer of Woodstock, Illinois; his step-grandparents, Terrence McCarthy, Kevin Cummuta, and Connie Nagel; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Brenden attended Woodstock North High School where he made countless friends and impacted the lives of many peers and teachers. A lot of his peers and closest friends knew him by the nickname of "Zephera". Brenden planned to get into the trade and become an electrician after high school.
Brenden had a lot of passions in life with music being the most impacting and calming to him. He enjoyed sitting by the water and watching sunsets, mainly at the small park in town. He had his favorite bench and could sit there for hours just listening to his music, watching the sunset, and being at peace.
Brenden was such a great big brother. His little brothers will miss the times of playing video games together, having sleepovers in his room, and fishing at the pond by their house.
Brenden was always wanting to be there and help those that needed it. He was always there for people, even if he did not know them. Brenden just wanted to be Brenden, the free spirit that walked to the beat of his own drum.
Brenden will be beyond greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was the kind of young man who anyone would be proud to call son, grandson, brother, nephew, and friend. Fly high, Brenden, and watch over all of us.
A visitation for Zephera will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014. A celebration of life will occur Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Old VFW in Woodstock, 240 N Throop St, Woodstock, Illinois 60098.
The family asks that anyone who attends either gathering to bring a small rock to place in a vase in place of a register book. As a young kid, Brenden would pick up rocks everywhere he went so this will be a meaningful way to honor him.
