Richard W. Christy

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jerrilynn Christy (nee Cutler); three children: Richard Christy, Kim (David) Hart, David (Connie) Christy; seven grandchildren: Kyle, Heather, Corey, Amber, Brandon, Chad, and Devan; two great grandchildren Sophia and Connor; sisters: Barbara Hooper, Diane (Ken) Banks; brother Carl Christy; sister-in-law Karen Hollingsworth; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by parents Senator William and Irene Christy.

Richard was known for always having a smile on his face and his sense of humor. He loved all animals and his wife, kids, and grandkids. After retirement, after 40 years of service with NIPSCO, he extensively traveled the world such as Tahiti, Europe, and Australia. During his many years of retirement, he also spent many winters in Arizona and summers in Michigan. He was an avid Bears fan and will rest more peacefully knowing that the Cubs won the 2016 World Series.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family for Visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the service.
