Martha Ann Dembinski

Martha Ann Dembinski, age 85, of Crown Point, IN passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Martha will be greeted by her mother, Grace Marian (Beck) Garner and her father, Dale Garner; sister Nancy (Garner) Cooney; and sister-in-law Sue (Swortz) Garner. She is survived by her daughters, Lizbeth DeWitt and Julia (Matt) Goralka; grandchildren, Daniel DeWitt, Jenn (Erik) Gaskins, Matthew Goralka, Nicholas Goralka, and Laura Goralka; great-grandchildren, Logan DeWitt and Kelsie DeWitt; brothers, Dave Garner and Dale Garner; brother-in-law, Tom Cooney; many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends who made her life full and complete. Martha loved nothing more than spending time with her family, hanging out in the kitchen or living room, where there was always plenty of laughs, love, food (Do you think we have enough?) and wrapping paper fights at Christmas. She was an amazing mom who never flinched from her responsibility to tell us what to do, although she never quite taught us to listen to her. Actually, she taught us by example how to not listen - and to follow our own arrows. Mom’s favorite chair gave her a view of the birds at her feeder, the changing trees, and her rock garden full of blooms from our annual trek to the greenhouse. Also among her favorites, were pineapple ice cream, lemon rice soup (actually, the entire Seniors Menu at Round the Clock), Paul Walker movies, Yellowstone, and Game of Thrones. And smiling as she sat with the warmth of the sun shining on her face. A special place in her heart was always reserved for Corie & Jerry, Joe, and our Auntie Al. Marty’s recent travels included a trip down home to see the farm and visit with family, a trip to Wisconsin to visit with her best childhood friend who is still family after 70+ years, and a trip last month to Hawai’i to see her granddaughter, Jenn, get married… and, always, to visit with family. If you’re reading this, she touched you in some way, large or small. But always with light and love. A Visitation for Martha will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307, with a Funeral Service commencing at 6:30 PM.
