Livanda Bonita Faye Yarbrough

Born on June 7, 1942, in Kenton, TN, Livanda dedicated her life to her family, embodying love and care in everything she did. Her commitment to nurturing others extended into her professional life as a registered nurse for over 40 years at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, IL. Livanda worked in the ICU, CCU and, finally, the emergency room, treating her patients as though they were her own family. She cherished her coworkers and approached each day with a passion for helping others. After retiring in 2018, a decision that came too soon for her, she focused on creating lasting memories that her family will cherish forever.

Livanda found joy in grocery shopping at Aldi, Meijer, and Sam's Club to prepare meals large enough to feed an army, as well as to bake cookies and apple pies for Christmas, which was her favorite time of year. She especially loved going for drives anywhere and everywhere. Her favorite places to eat were Round The Clock and Cracker Barrel.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Mai Grubbich; and her father, George (GL) Yarbrough. Livanda is survived by her brother, George (Glenda) Yarbrough; daughters, Deneen "Dee" Strain (Michael) Rivas and Zabrina (Jim) Burnett; grandchildren, Zim Strain (Kylie) Rivas, Titus Strain (fiancee' Hannah) Rivas, Cadence Burnett, and Landon Burnett; and great-granddaughters, Lily Knox and Ivy Wells. She lovingly referred to her daughters as GG—God's Gift.

A Visitation to honor Livanda will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family invites all who knew Livanda to join them in celebrating her beautiful life.

Livanda has been called home by her heavenly Father, where she is now free from pain and dancing freely.
