Lazaro Rodriguez, Jr. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, Lazaro Rodriguez, Jr., peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on November 10, 2024 in Munster, IN at the age of 79. He was born in McAllen, TX on September 11, 1945. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Rodriguez; and his children, Gabriel (Beth), Dalia (Rick), Leticia, and Maria (Jorge). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Martin, Anthony, Lucinda, Jasmine, Bianca, Matthew, Dominic, Damian, Julianna; and his numerous great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, Ruben, Samuel, Juan, and sister, Linda. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria; late wife, Anita; and his father, Lazaro. Lazaro graduated in 1968 from Roosevelt High School. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1971 as a welder for military missiles used in Vietnam. He traveled the world and spent much time in Germany to serve his country. He retired from Mittal Steel after 46 years of service. He was a devout Christian and was a faithful member of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal and enjoyed being in service to his church and community. He will be remembered as a hardworking father who loved his family. Lazaro was an avid gardener, and enjoyed being in nature. He spent every summer in Monterrey, Mexico visiting his family’s ranch. He enjoyed photography and often took photos of nature and family. Lazaro enjoyed farm life by riding horses, hiking, harvesting crops, and spending time with his family reminiscing on his grandfather's farm. He enjoyed learning and reading, completed crossword puzzles daily, and could win at any scrabble game. He read his Bible daily and led his life always by faith. Lazaro took every opportunity to be at his granddaughter's softball games and was her biggest fan behind home plate. His loss is greatly felt by his family, neighbors and friends. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal, 3802 Elm Street, East Chicago. Visitation and viewing will be 6:00 - 7:00 pm, followed by a service at 7:00 pm. A funeral service for Lazaro will be held Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:00 am at Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal, with burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN.
