Joshua Matthew Kaplan

Joshua is survived by his mother, Pamela (Bernardo) Gonzalez; sister, Jennifer (Brian) Kaplan Johnson; sister, Julia (Jason) Bunge (nee Kaplan); nephews and nieces, Jurian, Jarod, Jase, Kaelin, Kayla, Zoey and Eliza; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Josh was preceded in passing by his father, Larry Kaplan; grandparents, Wesley (Nancy) Cain, Patricia Miles (nee Vose), and Sam and Irene (nee Schwartz) Kaplan.

Joshua attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School and played baseball from a very young age until he graduated. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. Joshua was truly a Momma’s boy and loved being around his family and friends that he considered family. He proudly embraced his heritage, and encouraged others to do so as well. He was a natural guitar player, talented singer and loved performing. Joshua had a love for the outdoors and nature. He had an amazing sense of humor and had a unique talent for making people laugh, even in the most difficult times. His playful pranks and witty remarks were both a source of amusement and occasional annoyance, but they always came from a place of love. Despite his teasing nature, he had an incredibly kind heart, constantly putting others before himself and offering a helping hand whenever needed. He will always be remembered for his infectious laughter, generosity and warmth he brought to others. Joshua will be deeply missed, but his spirit and legacy will live on in our hearts forever.

A Celebration of Life will take place at on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Jamie Deuser officiating. Inurnment to immediately follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
