Guadalupe Maria Saucedo, age 93, of Hammond, IN passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. She was born and raised in Mercedes, TX. Guadalupe was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Mateo C. Saucedo; her parents, Eusebio and Evarista Solis; her siblings, Carmen Torres, Natividad Torres, Victoria Garza, Maria Guajardo, Jose Torres, Eusebio Torres, Abelardo Torres, and Otila Zamudio.
Guadalupe is survived by her daughter, Alicia Severin (Robert); her granddaughters, Jennifer Young (Kenneth) and Dr. Courtney Severin; her daughter, Sandra Serrano; her grandsons, Robert Serrano, Nicholas Serrano, Michael Serrano, Clifford Serrano; and her granddaughter, Stephanie Serrano; her son, Jose Luis Saucedo; her daughter, Diane Bryant (Daniel); her granddaughters, Jessica Gonzalez (Matthew) and Kristina Favela (Guillermo); numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Tomasita Padilla and Petra Lesinski.
Guadalupe loved flowers and tending to her garden. She took classes on flower arrangements and worked at Zandstra's for many years, until she left at 82 years old. She was passionate about cooking for her family, especially tortillas and tamales. Guadalupe enjoyed traveling to see her family, as well as spending time at home with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While in the care of Christian Village, she spent her free time enjoying activities like bingo, crafting, gardening and attending church, where she made many friends. She especially adored having her roommate and best friend, Betty Bryant, with her.
A Visitation for Guadalupe will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A Funeral Service will occur Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Saco officiating at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
