Dorothy Hendrix Malone, born January 4, 1925 in Greer, South Carolina, passed away on August 26, 2016 in Calumet City, Illinois. Mrs. Malone retired from TF North in Calumet City after working in the cafeteria for over 25 years. She taught Sunday School for many years, and served as a Girls Auxiliary leader at the First Baptist Church of Calumet City. As a young mother with her children she was part of the beginning of the church when they met in the Calumet Memorial Park before buying a building for services in the early 1950’s. Her faith and witness for her love of God will always be a legacy to her family and those who personally knew her. She was a member of the Sauk Trail Daughters of the American Revolution. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Malone, her son, John Patrick Malone and her daughters, Grace Ellen Malone and Kathy Born, parents Doc and Anne Hendrix, five sisters, six brothers, mother and father-in law, Charles and Ethel Malone, grandson, John Walden Malone and great granddaughter, Amelia Rose Wojewoda. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Becky (Gene) Wojewoda, and Margaret (Rev. Robert) Blackburn, daughter in law, Jan Malone and son in law, Tony (Roberta) Born. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10: 00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Calumet City, 800 Pulaski Road, Calumet City, Illinois. Interment will be in the Garden of the Apostles at Chapel Lawn following the service. Donations may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home, 949 County Road 1300 N, Carmi Illinois 62821.
