David Ronald Oprea, age 82, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
David dedicated over 40 years of his career to US Steel Mills. He had a deep passion for sports, especially as a devoted Indianapolis Colts fan, and found joy in reading and solving crossword puzzles. Known for his kindness and generosity, David touched the lives of many. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, brother, uncle, great-uncle, great-great-uncle, brother-in-law, and cousin.
David is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Georgene Oprea; his sister, Joanne Kiselstein; his sister-in-law, Darlene Harreld; his niece and her children, Robin Neidig (Gary), Trisha Crawford (Nate), Joel Neidig (Lindsey), Hilary Frank (Justin), Faith Neidig and family; his nephews, Timothy Harreld, Randall Harreld and his children, Mary Harreld and Aston Harreld; his nephew, Philip Harreld (Sara) and his children, Sarya, Cambria, Kora, and Monica; his niece, Lauren Carnahan (Christopher) and her children, Cameron and Parker; his nephew, Brian Kiselstein and his child, Bentley; and many great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
He is preceded by his parents, John and Lottie Oprea; his brother, John; and sisters, Charlotte and Janet.
A memorial visitation for David will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 2:30 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
