 Obituario de Carmen Barajas
Carmen Barajas passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024, after a hard-fought 3-year battle with stage 4 breast cancer. Carmen is the beloved wife of Carlos Barajas; the devoted mother of Lisette Barajas and Daniel Barajas; the cherished sister of Elena Curiel and Gloria Isabel Macias; the lovable aunt of Hassiel, Christian, Stephanie, Paloma, Gerardo, and Ivan; and the admirable member of a wonderful extended family, including in-laws that were treated as family since the very beginning. She was born in Margaritas, Jalisco, Mexico. Carmen had an unwavering enthusiasm for learning and her perfectionism always pushed her to go above and beyond, allowing her to breeze through school and college. Shortly after marrying Carlos in Mexico in 1992, she joined him in the United States, where they both worked vigorously in hopes of better lives for their children. Being a serious and incredibly ambitious woman, she often took on great responsibilities, rarely taking no for an answer. Even through her rapidly complicating condition, she remained committed to aiding her sisters and supporting her children, refusing to let this aggressive cancer dictate her life. After being displaced from her job during the pandemic, she valiantly re-entered the workforce, dedicating herself to aiding her sister, Isabel, in the successful launch of her new restaurant. As a passionate mother, she did anything to provide for her children and be by their side, putting them first before herself. Something lesser known about Carmen was her lifelong experience with synesthesia, a rare cognitive ability that allowed her to visualize a distinct color corresponding to a specific person’s name. This gift displays her profound creativity and how undeniably unique she was. May she rest in peace, knowing her kindness will not be forgotten. We will miss you so much and hope to make you proud. A Visitation for Carmen will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A Prayer Service will take place at 4:00 pm on Friday July 19, 2024 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1 West Wilhelm Road, Schererville, IN 46375. Carmen will be laid to rest in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Please consider donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to prevent the loss of more extraordinary people.
