St. John, Ind.
Carl L. Porch, 87, of St. John, Ind., formerly of South Holland, Ill., and Poplar Bluff, Mo.; passed away on June 3, 2020, following a lengthy illness.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Shirley Mae Porch; children, Gary (Beth) Porch and Dale (Kathy Sabinske) Porch; stepchildren, Teresa (Donald Clark) Pelletier; Mary Anne (James) Caudle and Susan (Bill) Bero. Also five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
Mr. Porch was born on Sept. 15, 1932, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Elmer Clarence and Mattie May Porch. He was a retired railroad worker, who served in various positions with the Baltimore and Ohio, later Chessie System, railroads, for 35 years. He also worked as a truck driver and roofer, among other jobs.
Mr. Porch was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, who also enjoyed woodworking, hosting garage sales and operating, with wife Shirley, the Country Porch store at Barn and Field flea market in Cedar Lake, Ind., for 20 years.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, Ind. Mr. Porch will be laid to rest in the adjacent Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, following a private, gravesite service.
Mr. Porch will be missed by his family and all whose lives he touched.
