Carl E. Milburn, age 85, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Thornton, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023 with his loving family at his side.
Carl was the loving husband for 39 years to Bette Milburn; beloved father to Troy Milburn; step-father to John Schrik and the late Steve Schrik; proud grandfather to Haley (Andrew) Schrik-Troupos; great-grandfather to Kinley and Aella Troupos; devoted son to the late Troy and the late Blanche Milburn; cherished brother to the late Ron, the late Jerry, and the late Ken Milburn; and uncle to many.
Carl honorably served in the United States Marine Corp from 1957-1960. He faithfully served on the Thornton Police Department and owned and operated the only Bozo's Hot Dog Stand in Thornton. He finished his career as a driver for Tierra Environmental Services after 40 years of service. Carl and his wife were faithful members of Faith Church in Dyer, IN. He was an avid gardener, enjoying tending to his flowers and tomatoes. Carl was a car enthusiast, attending various car shows in the area. Carl especially enjoyed traveling with his wife and family around the world, visiting as far as Australia, Europe, and stepping foot in 47 of the 50 states. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Visitation will be Monday, July 24, 2023 from 12:00 noon until the time of his Funeral at 1:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. He will be laid to rest in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
