Sally was born on May 9, 1952, to Nicholas Basso and Teresa Devlin. Aside from raising her children, Sally’s greatest joy was owning her own business, The Movie House, with her sister-in-law. It was at The Movie House that Sally met the love of her life, Rick. They were married on September 7, 1985, and rarely seen apart for the 42 years they were together. Sally spent her winters in Florida until Rick retired and they moved permanently to Florida in 2015. She enjoyed visits from family, the warm weather and skinny dipping in their private pool in her last years in Florida. In September 2022, Sally and Rick returned to New York to be closer to their family. Sally passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of October 28, 2024.
Sally will be dearly missed and survived by her loving and devoted husband Richard Leggio; daughter Shanon (Giordano) Walsh, her husband Tom and their children Ethan and Devyn; her son Michael Giordano, his wife Maria and their daughter Stella; her stepson Richard Morley, his wife Melissa and their children Emma, Kiely, and Jackson. She is also survived by her sister Karen Santos and husband Nestor, her brother Paul Basso, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Calabro.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 1, from 4-8 p.m. at Edward F Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, 540 N Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to Mission MSA (missionmsa.org).
Mission MSA is near and dear to our hearts as Sally and her sister, Kathy, both died due to complications of this disease.
