Romano Agar-Bardini, a resident of Croton-on-Hudson, passed away on August 28, 2024. He was 95 years old. Romano was born on May 6, 1929 in Agnano, Pisano, Italy to the late Augusto and Fortunada (Lazzerini) Bardini. Before his retirement, he was a system analyst for the computer industry & finance.
He grew up on a farm in Italy with 7 brothers and 1 sister. Always talked about stealing fruit from other farms and playing soccer. After high school he went into the Italian Navy and retired after 10 years.
In 1957, while in the Navy he met my mother Phyllis, as she was vacationing in Italy with her sister. They met at a party and were smitten with each other instantly. As she went back home to America, they corresponded with letters. When the ship came to America, they would meet. In 1958, they were wed in Italy. My mother's family flew over to celebrate, and they honeymooned in Lake Como. They returned to America and shortly lived with my grandparents in upstate New York. Phyllis's cousin, Bernie took Romano under his wing and taught him English, how to drive & helped him get work. He worked in on computers in banks. Went to college to get a degree in computers. He worked his way up to be a systems analyst. In 1960 their daughter Marguerite was born & 2 years later bought a home in Brooklyn. In 1963, their son Marc was born. They moved from Brooklyn in 1970 to Long Island. Where they stayed for over 40 years. He later went into Finance which was one of his passions. Phyllis passed in 2011 and Romano and Marc lived together until he got sick and went to live with his daughter Marguerite & her husband Nick, in Croton on Hudson. He blossomed until he fell ill in 2023 where he needed 24 hour care. He passed in his sleep at the age of 95. He had a full wonderful life. He is with his wife and his mama and dad along with all of his brothers and sister, Bina.
We should all be so lucky.
He is survived by his children, Marguerite, his daughter, Nick his son-in- law and March his son.
He was predeceased by Bina, his sister, Salvatore, Arnoldo, Fortunado, Alfredo, Vito, & Claudio.
