Patricia S. Seldin

Pat Seldin (February 19, 1943 – November 23, 2021) a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many; died peacefully at home, Kendal on Hudson. Raised in New York City, Pat attended Hunter College High School, went on to William Smith College and completed her graduate work at Fordham University.

She lived in Croton on Hudson for more than fifty years and was active in various town activities, including: the Croton Community Nursery School, the Croton Library and the Blood Bank. For many years she served as a teacher and Director of Technology at the Bi-Cultural Day School in Stamford, Connecticut where she was honored with several Students Choice Awards, given to the faculty member who best exemplifies the Jewish tradition of lifelong learning.

Pat was an active puzzler. She thoroughly enjoyed doing The New York Times Crossword Puzzle, as well as jigsaw puzzles and Sudoko mathematics games. She also possessed an enormous amount of raw knowledge and often responded with correct answers to questions on the Jeopardy TV show even before the contestants did.

Pat loved to travel and particularly enjoyed trips to Florence, London, Prague and Provence in Southern France. She also liked cruises and especially liked a recent trip to Iceland.

What was she like as a person? A close friend said: “Pat was the kindest person I ever met. I never heard a cross word from her.” One of her cousins claimed that “she was the smartest person I ever met, and the most self-effacing.” And a neighbor remarked: “I loved Pat. She was an incredibly kind and talented person.”

She is survived by her husband, Peter as well as by her children: Marc (Ray), Amy (Doug) and Nancy (Pat) and by her grandchildren: Zack, Davis, Will and Tess.
