Patricia Marie Anfiteatro, a longtime resident of the Croton-on-Hudson, NY community, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, in Putnam Valley, NY, at the age of 93. Born on April 17, 1931, in Peekskill, NY, Patricia was the beloved daughter of the late Eugene and Irene (Kochersberger) Scanlon.
Patricia was the devoted wife of the late Dominick J. Anfiteatro, with whom she shared 69 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in May 2020. Together, they built a loving family and home, where Patricia embraced her role as a dedicated homemaker and nurtured her family with care and devotion.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Doreen DiMilia (Vincent), James Anfiteatro, Adam Anfiteatro (Alicia), and David Anfiteatro. Patricia was a cherished grandmother to Christopher (Ashley) and Michael DiMilia, Dominick Anfiteatro, Andrew, Brian, and Matthew Anfiteatro, Michael DiGirolamo, and Jake and Jared Friedman, as well as a great-grandmother to Isabella and Della. She is also survived by her brother, Richard (Rit) Scanlon. Patricia was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Andrea Anfiteatro.
A talented artist and creative spirit, Patricia excelled in a variety of artistic endeavors, including painting with oils, acrylics, and pastels, china painting, doll making, stained glass, sewing and wearable art which combined her love and talent of art with sewing. She has studied with many artists in all mediums, including prominent portrait artists. She was a member of multiple artistic organizations including the American Sewing Guild and the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers organization. Her gifted imagination and inventive character created impressive works of art in all her endeavors. She achieved several awards throughout the years including first place in the international Sulky Challenge competition in the wearable art category. She has also been featured in several magazines including the cover of the Porcelain Portrait Society Magazine.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 10 AM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Holy Name of Mary Church, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Committal will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia's memory to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or the American Cancer Center.
Patricia's memory will forever be cherished by her family and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
