George Alan Hiller, a resident of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on December 11, 2023. He was 73 years old. A native of New York City, George was born on February 12, 1950, grew up in Stuyvesant Town, and attended Stuyvesant High School. He completed a Bachelor's Degree in Communications at Cornell University where he met his wife, whom he married in 1972, graduating in 1973. He was particularly active at Ithaca's independent studio-run radio station, WVBR, where he was an on-air host. He later earned a Master's of Business Administration from Fordham University in 1979. Over the course of his career he worked for several marketing research firms, including Information Resources Inc., Towne-Oller and Associates, and Ipsos, where he served as a global account director before retiring in 2017. A devoted soccer fan, he showed passion for the sport at every level. In the 1980s and 1990s, he worked as a referee, coach, and regional commissioner for Croton's AYSO program. He was also a season ticket holder for Major League Soccer's Metrostars/New York Red Bulls franchise from the inception of the league in 1996 to the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan; his three brothers, Richard, Peter, and James; his two sons, Matthew (Ting) and Jonathan (Elizabeth); and his three grandchildren, Ocean, Isaac, and Natalie.
He was predeceased by his parents, Murray Hiller and Gerda (Ungar) Blau, and his stepfather Seymour Blau.
A service is scheduled for Sunday, December 17th at 9:30am at Edward F Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to American Youth Soccer Organization.
