After nearly 20 years of losing Bernard, her husband of 56 years, they will be reunited. She will also be reunited with her parents, her sisters and her many beloved pets. Her final days were filled with love and joy at her son and daughter in law’s home. She enjoyed, nature, yummy food, companionship and of course, her granddogs antics. She smiled and laughed and told stories about growing up and meeting Bernard and about their courtship and marriage. Mary was proud of her independence and work ethic. She never suffered until the last couple of hours before God gave her her wings. Mary is survived by her only son Bob (Nancy) of Charleston and her only grandchild Brent (Krystle) of Wheeling, her sister Edna Chambers of Cross Lanes and many loving nieces and nephews. Mary had a tremendous love of animals, birdwatching and gardening. She has stated many times that she started feeding the birds when she was six years old and hasn’t stopped since. She and Bob maintained a vegetable garden every year, including last year. It was one of her greatest joys. Spending time with her son and working in the soil. Her two kitties, Charley and Tinker will be coming to live with her 3 Grandshelties,
Maxx, Gideon and Ellie and, of course Bob and Nancy. After only a few days of working with Hospice Care of Charleston, we found them to be extremely compassionate and helpful and would like to extend our greatest appreciation.
